Analyzing Historical Issues with PLAN

Mary Beth Tinker was a junior in high school when she and a group of friends decided to wear black armbands to school to protest the war in Vietnam. The school board got wind of the protest and passed a preemptive band. When Mary Beth arrived at school, she was asked to remove the armband and was then suspended. In this sample lesson, students use the PLAN framework to consider some alternative solutions.
